The Horsemen featured in the action adventure series form THQ have a responsibility to keep the epic war between good and evil from ending the world. The first game titled Darksiders, had the main character, War, stripped of his powers, and accused of starting the apocalypse of the Earth. War is the Horseman accused of breaking the seal that signals the end of humanity, but in the sequel to this end of the world adventure, players will take hold of Death. On Spike TV’s Video Game Award Show, A glimpse of Death was given. You may, or may not have noticed, but Death is wielding the classic weapon of darkness, the Scythe. Players who love the grim reaper should feel right at home with Vigil’s depiction of Death.
You can check out Death’s reveal in the trailer above. THQ’s jumpstart of the new action adventure series is focused around the Four Horsemen found in the book of Revelation. Darksiders is a creative approach on the biblical story, but a look into the history and the theme of the game, reveals a few hints that two more games in the Darksiders franchise could also be on the roster. In the story intro of the first Darksiders game, a silhouette of all four Horsemen is shown. With War leading the pack holding his large sword, Death is found in the image welding his Scythe on the far left. If THQ had plans for Death when the first Darksiders game launched, the other Horsemen may also have games of their own in the works.
The fact the games are based on the Four Horsemen is an obvious clue that there could be four games in the series, but when taking a more detailed look at the Bibles explanation of the characters, there is still more to be told using the other characters found in the good book of Revelations. There are actually seven seals, but only four reference to the release of the Horsemen
· The seven seals (6:1)
· 2.1. First seal (6:1) a white horse, its rider holds a bow
· 2.2. Second seal (6:3) a red horse, its rider holds a sword
· 2.3. Third seal (6:5) a black horse, its rider holds a pair of scales
· 2.4. Fourth seal (6:7) a pale horse, its rider is called Death
Currently, we’ve only experienced the opening of the second seal which featured War, and in 2012 we will experience the opening of the forth seal featuring Death. Judging by the order Vigil Games has decided to use, the potential other two games could turn out to be prequels. For now this is all speculation, but it would be very cool to see how the other characters are interpreted by the studio; looking forward to the guy with the wip myself. We will bring you more on Darksiders as it gets released. Check out the next issue of Gameheadz the digital magazine for more on Darksiders II.
