Heavy Rain is a game that look's to revolutionize the gaming industry by creating a new and innovative form of interactive entertainment. From the controls to the graphics, Heavy Rain might create a new mold for Game design. The controls in Heavy Rain are very unique, and It’s evident that the controls were a serious part of the games development. while playing Heavy Rain i immediately notice the cinematic experience the controls provided. Instead of using the left analog stick to move forward, the forward movement is mapped to the R2 button, much like a racing game. The left analog stick is use as your characters look movement, and is also used to direct your characters movement throughout the environment. There is also an option to view the game from two camera angles, and this option can be used at any time. The multiple camera angles creates that dramatic experience usually only seen in movies, and it’s also used to find clues to this every twisting murder mystery. Your characters feelings, and emotional state plays a big part in the game play as well. To give you control of these thoughts, and emotions there’s a very cool feature which allows you to see what your characters felling. You also have the ability to choose a response base on how you feel at any given moment. These thoughts aren't just cool phrases hovering around you character, they are context sensitive emotions that can trigger choices, and my require you to make decisions. Your emotional state in many cases can change the game play depending on how you involve them. One of the very cool game play elements in Heavy Rain is the use of the A.R.I system which stands for Add Reality Interface. This feature is a combination of some very cool glasses, and a pretty slick glove, it sounds silly, but when you see it in action it's very cool. The glasses when put on act as a black light turning things slightly darkened or lighter depending on the texture of the material your looking at. Some things like liquid have a lighter color were as a steal door might be darker. The Add Reality Interface, or A.R.I will scan an entire room, and dynamically highlight important objects for your investigation. These objects aren’t just there for informational porpuse's; they can be interacted with, and will generated actions base on how they connected to the games story. The gloves can be used to test surfaces, and to activate the A.R.I Interfaced. with one move of your hand a pulse is sent throughout the room and the glasses will detect anything it considers important, or potential evidence. These items are usually directly connected to the story, and your interaction with them will sometimes generate quick time events that force you to fight for you life. Though Quick time events are now common place in most games, in Heavy Rain it feels very different, mostly because you never feel detached from the game play, or the story it’s a seamless experience. Most players who Play Heavy Rain will immediately be immersed in what Quantitc Dream is delivering. Will have more Heavy Rain coverage shortly including a full 10 minutes a gameplay, so check back soon so you can see the game in action. I’m looking forward to heavy rain, and will bring you all the details as they emerge, keep your ears peeled, and your eyes posted more info.
