EA showed off some new gameplay for Mass Effect 3 at their GamesCom press conference. They also reveal some new elements the Onmi blade and the Omni armor can master. While the gameplay shown looked amazing, it also proves how a talent developer like Bioware can make big changes in a very short time frame.

Mass Effect 3 will include more customization and upgrades than previous version of the game, and Bioware is working hard to please both action adventure fans, and the RPG loyalist. Action lovers are in for a treat as the weapons upgrades makes changes not only to the look of your weapon, but add to the weapons powers. This opens up the possibility for new customizable ammo types. The freeze ammo, and trace fire looks awesome, but what will steal your heart is the Omni Blade. The Omni blade is also upgradeable, depending on which direction you deiced to go with it, your melees can become a one or two handed attack and is also based on the class you choose.
The Omni blade can be equipped with fire and other powered up attacks. One hit with a fire equipped Omni blade and your foe is disintegrated. Other undisclosed elements can be equipped with the omni blade which can create some even cooler effects, according to EA's PR Reps. Bioware also revealed that the Omni blade can be used while attacking from cover, making it sure to be the fan favorite for stealth kills. The visuals in Mass Effect 3 seem more polished than before. At E3 the visuals were not as well done, the E3 showing had some jagged edges and low level textures. Now Commander Shepherds polished armor shines, if its not damaged, and the environments have the high level textures and depth the series is known for.

One of the best improvements is to the Omni blades hit detection. In the demo we played at ComicCon, using the Omni blade didn't feel as exact. Some times you would clearly miss a guy with your cinematic blade swing, only to watch him fall over dead after( check this video at the 10:39 mark out to see it in action.). Now the hits feel better and make contact with the enemies, resulting in a satisfying digital shank. Mass Effect 3 doesn't release until early 2012, Casey Hudson has told us personally that their is still much to be done to Mass Effect 3. With so much time and already some many improvements, ME3 could be the only game to one-up Mass Effect 2's epic take on action RPG's.
