Sniper Elite was one of the more original shooters to launch back in the era of the Playstation 2, and Xbox. When most shooters were trying to get players to move faster, this shooter was trying to convince players that moving slower is better. It was also one of few shooters to sell the idea that one bullet is better than 100. Because the game only appealed to the few, it became a niche title. If you’re a collector, the original Sniper Elite can be purchased new for 189.99, on most commerce sites. The follow-up to the game is looking even more amazing than the original. Still based in realism, Sniper Elite 2 has a number of key features that should have most shooter fans holding their breath, waiting to take that perfect shot. /Church.jpg)
Though the game is looking amazing, Rebellion is taking one huge risk that could have the sequel to the epic suffering from the same problems that plagued its predecessor. Since Call of Duty brought the era of modern war, few shooters have ventured back to the past wars found in our world’s history. The shooters that have, did so only to become unwanted shovel-ware taking up space in the big box stores bargains. Though it’s awesome to revisit historical wars, the past doesn’t offer much in the way of advanced weaponry, which is what most gamers want, and, is what all the top shooters are doing currently. With Sniper Elite being a shooter that rest in a genre all its own, it can survive the gamers desire for better, faster, and cooler technology to play with.
However, when the first Sniper Elite released it didn’t quite reach the masses, something required for an IP to achieve the necessary monetary success. With the new game in the series still based in the past, Rebellion runs a huge risk of turning a number of shooter fans away, before they ever get to see what this new take on shooting is all about; a major problem the first game struggled to overcome. The game is looking amazing, and is one all shooter fans should spend some time getting familiar with. Hopefully, this version of Sniper Elite can be a bigger success than the first game in the series, and promote more shooters to base their gameplay one realism.
